A lion is chasing you.
You run into a forest.
What is the furthest that you can run into the forest?

You walked 10 km North.
Then walked 10 km West.
Then walked 10 km South.
You had walked 30 km in total.
But you arrived at exactly where you had started.
How?

3 people check into a hotel.
They pay $30 to the manager and go to their room.
The manager remembers that the room rate is $25.
The manager gives $5 to the bellboy to return to the people.
On the way to the room the bellboy reasons that $5 would be difficult to share among 3 people.
So the bellboy pockets $2 and gives $1 to each person.
Now each person paid $10 and got back $1.
So they paid $9 each; totaling $27; and the bellboy has $2, final-totaling $29.
Where is the missing $1?
