2017 just flew away yesterday...
Welcome! 2018
What makes me shout that quote?
Do I; just like Elon Musk; think that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is dangerous?
If so, how dangerous is AI?
To get a perspective of how dangerous AI has already become or can become in near-future, let's do a quick recap of 2017 AI-related happenings & inventions:
[1] Facebook had to shut down one of its AI systems after its Chatbots started speaking in their own language defying the codes provided
[2] Killer Robots (aka Lethal Autonomous Weapons) are already in use. These are AI, ML, NN, powered Weapons used to select/attack targets (people/installations) without human intervention
[3] Google’s researchers built an AI-tool that can remove watermarks that Shutterstock uses to protect all of its images. Why is this threatening? Answer: People can manually remove watermarks today, using image editing tools like Photoshop, but this tool is automatic - it cleans the watermarks off tons of images in the time it would take a human to clean one. So, anyone-outside-google who can build this tool can steal all images and build a parallel-similar marketplace
I, by this post, don't want to demean the power that AI can/will give us.
I am simply a strong believer of what Elon Musk says:
'We need to be SUPER-CAREFUL with AI'.
I had written in great detail about all of the above 3 topics in 2017. Read them here:
